New Mailboxes!

Good Morning!

I hope that everyone is managing with this extended period of cold...brrr...I know I am ready for spring.

Well we have some excellent news to announce - the mailbox shelter is officially completed AND we are fortunate to have received upgraded mailboxes from Canada Post this week. Also, we took the opportunity to finish off the stone work on the bridge behind the new shelter - it really adds to the look of the community now that it is finished.

By now you should have received your keys and mailbox location from Canada Post. If you do not have your keys, please contact the Canada Post distribution centre in Royal Oak and they will help you out.

I would be amiss if I didn't take a moment to recognize many of the individuals that contributed to this project:

Brett Taylor with RedTree for the safe professional work and exemplary communication.
Derek and Jason for stewarding the competitive bid & evaluation, and clarification process
Derek for designing the solar lighting system.
Joel, Shiva, Shaun, Perry, Jason, Ross and TJ for providing feedback on the bids and pitching in whenever we had to answer contractor questions.
TJ and Perry for coordinating the New mailboxes.
Bart for providing some of the design ideas and getting squared away with the insurance requirements.

** One final note - with the new structure in place it looks like junk mail is being disposed of in the shelter. Please take all mail with you, and if there is anything you want to discard, please do so at your residence. Discarding unwanted mail beside the mailboxes reflects poorly on our community.

Mailbox Update Dec 1

Please find attached an update from our contractor on the mailbox shelter.

Good morning all, we are just about done!!

As you can see in the attached pictures we have completed:

-the stone and capping
-timber staining (will have touch ups to do after electrical is complete)
-bulletin board construction
-seeding of disturbed area (picture 2)

We also completed the stone and capping on the bridge.

We still have to complete the solar panel and lighting. It had to be the last thing as I wanted all the Equipement fastened over top of the stain timbers. Our plan is to have that completed and to turn possession over by December 14th 2018.

The left over stone crates will be collected next week, We have also been requested to stain the bridge to match the kiosk, but will have to wait for a couple days of a Chinook to come back for that.

Good morning!

Please find the update from our contractor on the Mailbox Kiosk attached.

Contractor Update

Morning all! Please see the attached photo of the work completed to date.

The great weather has allowed us to push through at a much faster pace. We were able to get the timbers ahead of schedule and start the on site assembly.

Work completed to date:

-Cedar timbers received
-Off site prefabrication complete
-Assembly of the posts and stone column jackets has been started
-Cut and removed the 10” strip of ashpalt on the north side of trench drain and filled with concrete to complete the trench drain install

Our goal for the end of this coming week:
-Complete the on site structure assembly
-Loam and seed the impacted area to complete the landscape repair

Mailbox Update Oct 17th

Good Morning!

Attached is the update from our contractor on the mailbox structure installation.

Hello all, we pushed through and managed to pour the pad and sidewalks today. We did the broom finish 2 different directions to help with traction as per the picture. We will be letting it cure until Monday before we remove the forms. Monday (weather permitting) we will repair the landscaping as well. Then we will be preparing all the timbers off site, so you will not be seeing much if any action on site for some time. I will provide an updated schedule next week to everyone. Have a good night!

Of note 2" of styrofoam and rebar were installed per the specifications.

Mailbox Update Oct 13th

Good Morning,

Here is the progress update from our contractor.

Progress ending October 12th.
-set up fencing and signage
-scraped grass layer off
-removed all organic soil and exposed the clay base as per photo
-installed 6 screw piles
-installed one loaf of crush gravel for the base

Work will recommence on Monday Oct 15th.

Mailbox Kiosk Construction

Good Morning!

Just a quick note to everyone that construction on the Willow Creek Mailbox Structure has begun.

The schedule for this work will be occurring over the next 4 months and should see completion early January 2019 or before.

The mailboxes will be moved a short distance for the construction phase and should not affect delivery whatsoever. Attached is some of the information about the structure to be installed.

In addition to the mailbox work we will have some stone added to the bridge that is close to the mailbox. With the same stone that is to be used on the mailbox kiosk.
